Privacy notice
Short version: we collect what you type into the enquiry form, store it in Zoho CRM, and give it to Nomad Africa, our partner agency in Kenya, so they can plan, book and run your trip. Nobody else gets it. Analytics and advertising cookies are only set if you click Allow, and you can change your mind at any time.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Africa Safari Desk, named in the footer of this site. Contact details are below.

Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people find useful, and Google Ads conversion measurement to see which of our adverts lead to an enquiry. Both run through Google Tag Manager.
No cookie is set until you choose. The bar at the bottom of the page asks first. If you click Allow, Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_…, and if you arrived from one of our Google adverts, Google Ads sets a _gcl_au or _gcl_aw cookie so that an enquiry can be matched to the advert you clicked. Zoho CRM, where we store enquiries, then sets a cookie named gclid for 30 days. It records which Google advert brought you here, so that your enquiry can be credited to that advert. If you click No thanks, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, none of these cookies are set.
Outside Europe, Google Analytics and Google Ads may receive cookieless measurement signals before you make a choice. They carry no cookie and are used only to count visits and enquiries in aggregate. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, nothing is sent to Google. When you send an enquiry from a Google advert, we store the Google click ID with it, so we can tell Google Ads which adverts produced qualified enquiries. We send Google that click ID, not your name, email or anything you typed. To stop it, choose No thanks or use the Cookies link in the footer, as described in Your consent below. In Europe nothing is sent to Google until you click Allow.
It is configured for measurement only: Google Signals, advertising personalisation and remarketing audiences are switched off, and we do not send Google your name, email or anything you type into the form. We can see that forty people read a page about the Masai Mara last week, which site or advert sent them, and how many went on to enquire. We cannot see who you are.
To change your mind, use the Cookies link in the footer of any page. Choosing No thanks deletes the Google cookies this site set and stops them being set again. Google’s own opt-out add-on and your browser settings also work, and nothing on the site will break.
We run no remarketing pixels and no third-party profiling beyond this.
The lawful basis, and your consent
For handling your enquiry: taking steps at your request before a contract, and your consent, which you give by choosing to send the form after reading the notice beside the send button. For analytics and advertising cookies: your consent, given on the cookie bar. For keeping the site working and free of spam: our legitimate interest in operating a functioning website.
Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. Email [email protected] and we will stop using your enquiry and ask Nomad Africa to do the same, except where a booking you have made or the law requires them to keep records. For cookies, use the Cookies link in the footer. Withdrawing does not make anything we did before it unlawful.
Who we share it with
- Nomad Africa, our partner travel agency in Kenya, who prepare your itinerary and quote and, if you go ahead, book and run your trip. This is the point of the form. Your data is transferred to Kenya.
- Zoho CRM, where the enquiry is stored so it is not lost in an inbox. Zoho acts on our instructions as a data processor.
- Google, for Analytics and Ads conversion measurement. In Europe, only if you click Allow. Google receives usage data and the click ID, not your enquiry.
- Cloudflare, who host this site and provide the spam check.
- Our email provider, to notify us that your enquiry arrived.
We do not sell your data, we do not rent it, and we do not pass it to other operators or to a panel of agencies. One agency receives your enquiry, and it is the same one every time.
African Honeymoon Safaris is a planning guide. It does not sell trips, take bookings or take payments. Nomad Africa, based in Kenya, quotes, books and runs the trip, and you pay Nomad Africa directly under their booking terms.
What Nomad Africa does with it
Nomad Africa trades as Purple Nomad Limited and is based in Nairobi, Kenya. Once your enquiry reaches them it is covered by their own privacy notice, which is worth two minutes of your time if you are giving them your dates and your budget: Nomad Africa’s privacy policy.
The parts of it that matter for an enquiry sent from here:
- They use what you send to plan and price your trip, to contact you about it, and, unless you opt out, to tell you about similar trips later.
- They may share it with service providers who process data on their behalf, with companies under common ownership, and with business partners. They may also disclose it where the law requires.
- They keep it only as long as they need it for those purposes, or longer where the law obliges them to.
- Your information may be processed outside the country you live in, including in Kenya.
- On security, their own wording is that no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and that they use commercially acceptable means to protect your data.
Why we put it that way
We could have written "Nomad Africa keeps your data safe". Their own notice does not say that, it says no method is 100% secure and that they use commercially acceptable means, and it would be odd for us to make a firmer promise on their behalf than they make on their own.
So: one agency, named, with their notice linked, and their commitments described in their words rather than improved in ours.
International transfers
Your enquiry is transferred to Kenya so that Nomad Africa can act on it, and may be processed in the countries where Zoho and Cloudflare operate.
Kenya is not covered by a UK or EU adequacy decision. The transfer is made because it is necessary to take the steps you have asked us to take, your itinerary and quote can only be prepared by the people who will run the trip, and they are in Kenya. If you would rather your details were not sent there, do not use the form; email us instead and we will answer what we can without passing anything on.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become bookings are kept for up to 24 months and then deleted, because people plan safaris years ahead and often come back. Where a booking is made, records are kept for as long as the law requires for financial and contractual records.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to have it sent to someone else. You can withdraw consent at any time, and every email we send has an unsubscribe link. Exercising any of these costs nothing and we will not ask you why.
Email [email protected] and we will action it. If you are unhappy with how we respond you can complain to your national data protection authority; in Kenya, that is the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
If you are in India, Singapore, the UAE, Canada, Australia or the United States
- India (Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023). This notice tells you what we collect and why, before you send it. You can withdraw consent, and ask us to access, correct, complete or erase your data, by emailing [email protected]. If we do not resolve a complaint, you can take it to the Data Protection Board of India. On prices: quotes are one total with no booking fee added later, and if you pay from India your bank may collect TCS (tax collected at source) on an overseas tour payment; that is a tax, not our fee.
- Singapore (Personal Data Protection Act 2012). We use your details only to answer your enquiry and pass them to Nomad Africa in Kenya for that purpose, and we will not send you marketing messages without your consent. African Honeymoon Safaris is not a Singapore travel agent: the booking contract and payment are with Nomad Africa, outside Singapore. Questions about your data go to [email protected].
- United Arab Emirates (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021). Your enquiry is processed because you asked us to, and sent to Kenya because the people who plan and run the trip are there. You can ask for access, correction, erasure or restriction, object to processing, or withdraw consent by emailing [email protected].
- Canada (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, PIPEDA). We collect your details to answer your enquiry, and we pass them to Nomad Africa in Kenya so they can plan and price your trip. Zoho stores them for us as our processor. We rely on your consent, which you give by sending the form, and you can withdraw it by emailing [email protected]. You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and to have it corrected. Replying to your enquiry is fine under Canada’s anti-spam law (CASL). Later newsletters or offers by email or WhatsApp need your consent, so we send them only if you opt in.
- Australia (Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles). Your details are sent outside Australia: to Nomad Africa in Kenya, who plan and run the trip, and to the places where Zoho hosts its CRM. We send them there because your enquiry needs it. You can ask for access to your information and for it to be corrected by emailing [email protected]. To complain, email us first. If we do not resolve it, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. Under the Spam Act 2003, we send marketing messages only with your consent, and each one has an unsubscribe link.
- United States. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we honour Global Privacy Control. Prices on this site are indicative; a written quote from Nomad Africa is the price, and it includes every mandatory charge they make.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. With your permission, Google Analytics, Google Ads and Zoho set the cookies described under Analytics above; without it, they set none. Cloudflare Turnstile may set a short-lived token to work out whether you are a bot; it is not used to profile or track you. The Cookies link in the footer changes your choice at any time.
